Conclusion
We started out with understanding what an inkle weave is, a decorative utility fabric. We gave some examples of it's uses, past and in the present. We wanted you to fully understand this unique weave and the place it has in our lives. It is hard to find a useable item you can make so easy.
Then we continued into the things needed in making this inkle weave, yarn and the inkle loom. We gave you the basic information necessary to choose a yarn that will be your training tool. Yarn that will take away some of the burden while weaving that other yarns may induce. You then discovered the inkle loom and it's purpose, hold this. We broke it down into it's three parts, and discussed their purpose to aid in the weaving process. All along you were picking up the language of the weaver.
You then progresses into the heart of the actual process, inkle weaving. Here you found out that the loom is just a holding device and you are the weaver. From the warping of the loom to creating the inkle weave itself, you are in charge, the outcome is literally in your hands. This is hand weaving at it's best.
There is nothing better that to bring your inkle band alive. Alive with color that can and does make a statement. We talked about color and you were shown the ease of adding colors to your pieces. There was additional information that gave more a more in depth look into color.
Lastly we covered the basic inkle patterns. Patterns created without the manipulation of the warp threads. Patterns are a great way to add design to any inkle band. Through simple warp color changes, you could make your inkle band as unique as you are. You were exposed to the pattern draft and it's basic use in designing patterns. We also gave you a free download of the pattern draft to use.
There is little doubt this was a lot of information to consume. New weavers might be a little overwhelmed of the things weavers should know. But compared to other crafts, inkle weaving shines best. Weaving can be a life long passion and for many a very enjoyable experience.
